E-Commerce platform 11street has reinforced its partnership with Just Order Conveniently On Mobile (JOCOM) to make online grocery shopping easier, in line with the anticipated increase in sales traffic during the upcoming Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration.
11street merchandising VP Bruce Lim said in a statement that the online grocery shopping outlet saw an increase of more than 35% in its gross merchandising value (GMV) in 2017 compared to the previous year.
He said more people are beginning to consider doing their grocery shopping online and the trend is expected to keep growing.
“This motivates us to strengthen our collaboration with JOCOM and become the e-commerce platform that offers a great variety of fresh produce and other frozen goods as food preparation for CNY heightens.
“With our host of offerings coupled with our established technological prowess, we aim to enable consumers to use our platform as the go-to channel to fulfil all their grocery needs, especially during the festive season,” he said.
Apart from hypermarket players like Tesco and AEON Big Sdn Bhd, 11street is expected to pioneer selling groceries online including fresh produce, fresh meat and frozen goods.
JOCOM CEO Joshua Sew said the company’s partnership with 11street is expected to expand the online grocery business nationwide by the third quarter of this year, and the business activities would include deliveries to the east-coast areas.
“Following the growth of online grocery shopping, we hope the numbers especially the GMV and number of orders will double in the next two years.
“The possibilities are limitless, in which we believe that there are still many untapped avenues to grow the grocery segment on the 11street platform,” Sew said.
11street online grocery services is currently only available to customers in the Klang Valley, Penang and Johor.
The partnership will also include a 10-episode cooking show that will be streamed online, featuring Chef Cheah Kee Khiang, which highlights CNY recipes using fresh ingredients available on JOCOM’s online store at 11street.
JOCOM was recently recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records as the First Grocery Mobile Commerce App in the country.
